Each weekly session is limited to a maximum of seven campers with 2 instructors. This insures that each child will have her/his “own” horse/pony for the week. This is a small but intensive program designed to give quality riding time to each student as they learn both the practical and fun side of horses. Mounted lessons will be given once a day. Sometimes after the lunch break, we ride again in the indoor bareback or go on a trail ride.  Horsey arts and crafts, instruction and demonstrations on horse care (pulling manes, clipping, bandaging, tack cleaning), horse management (feeding, grooming, etc.) will also be on the agenda. Our aim is to provide campers with a safe, fun, educational riding experience so they will return to Applewood year after year for summer fun!

The lessons will typically consist of ring work, where emphasis will be placed on flat work and jumping small fences if the student is ready. Riding lessons may also involve trail riding, riding bareback, and horse games.
